How & What You Need To Start A Healthy Hair Journey...

I have been getting a lot of questions about how to care for relaxed hair, I don’t claim to be a specialist nor am I a license stylist, however I can share with you what I have learned so far and what has worked and not worked for me. The word ‘journey’ could be intimidating to some people as they may believe it will take FOREVER to reach to their goals. Therefore some of you may not want to be on a hardcore hair journey and thus, just want to practice healthy hair practices for many reasons such as: Bra Strap Length hair may be overwhelming to take care of and you may love rocking your hair in a bob but prefer your hair to be thick and luxurious so you don’t need to include weave tracks to add volume to your hair. Therefore you prefer healthy hair over length and that’s fine. For those of you who want to start a healthy hair journey, let’s go on this journey together to grow our hair to its healthiest state whilst gaining lengths beyond our imaginations.

The basic things you will need to purchase to start a healthy hair journey are:

Here a few things I suggest before you start a Healthy Hair Journey:

[1]   Research is one of the most important things you need to do. Browse blogs, YouTube
videos  to see people that are already on a hair journey and use them as motivation.
[2]   You may used one of your hair inspirations hair regimen as a guide but ultimately
you need to tweak it  by  listening  to your hair and choose products that your hair
loves and not because Tomes says so.
[3]   Remember that no two heads are the same and what may work for one person may not
        necessary work for you.
[4]   In the beginning when looking for products should be a trial and error so that eventually
you will know what’s best for your hair. It’s important to learn the moisture and protein
balance to achieve healthy hair. As the saying goes too much of one thing isn't always
good for you and this applies to hair as well. Too much protein can lead to dry brittle
hair and too much moisture can lead to mushy thinned out hair, just be careful.
[5]   PATIENCE is another important factor as it’s called a HAIR JOURNEY and not a race.
Our hair grows at about an average of ½ inch per month so relax and grow.
[6]   Trim off all damage or split ends and start your journey with a fresh trim/cut.
[7]   Set realistic goals and don’t get discouraged if you experience any set-backs,
just get back on track and start growing again.
[8]   Remember CONSISTENCY is the key to seeing positive results.
[9]   Take plenty of pictures to track your progress, you will be amazed by the progress you
have made when you look back.
[10]  Lastly don’t be afraid to join hair boards sites to learn from women just like you.

I'll be breaking down each of the 14 items listed above in future post, stay tuned.

How did you start your Healthy Hair Journey?

when I was relaxed I followed a lot of these to ensure the health of my hair. my hair never broke while I was relaxed and it wasn't the reason I went natural. these are great tools, not only for relaxed hair but natural hair as well.

  6. I just want to say I have been following your blog for a while and I love it! I started my HHJ about a month ago and I always come back to this blog for more information and research. I am still going through my trial and error stage and trying to figure out my moisture and protein balance but I trust that I will have it figured out eventually. I must say though, I never used to get excited about wash days before but I do now...especially when I purchase new products and I am dying to try them out and see the results! I have one coming up on Sunday and I hope it goes well. Keep up the good work!
