Tomes Edition Hair "Treats" - Spotlight: Ria's Wash Day

Over the course of my life I have been blessed with a lot of supportive friends that have been cheering me on from the sidelines, since I started my Healthy Hair Journey. So I decided as a token of my appreciation, to give some of them hair “Treats” compliments Tomes Edition. Without further adieu let’s introduce my lil sister (not blood related but I love her like one regardless) and today’s highlight Ms Ria..

Ria isn’t on a hair journey but wants to start a Healthy Hair Journey as the thought of having long beautiful healthy hair intrigues her.

::Let’s get to know Ria alil bit more::

1)      How long have you been relaxed?
Ria: 15 years but I have gone back natural and texturized my hair during this time.

2)      How often do you relax your hair?
         Ria: Every 4-6 weeks.

3)      What hair products do you use & how do you use them on your wash days?
Ria: Whatever the hairdresser uses. I hardly wash my own hair and when I have to I
just use whatever is at home

4)      Do you use heat? If yes how often?
Ria: I do, at least once a week.

Before starting Ria’s wash day I checked her hair to access it so I would know how to go about her wash day. She is 3 weeks post relaxer so her wash day should be easy breezy. Here are the steps I took for Ria’s Wash Day [I take similar steps]

[1]      Prepoo [pre-shampoo treatment]- Grapeseed Oil & Extra Virgin Olive Oil on
her scalp and Herbal Essence Long-Term Relationship Conditioner mixed with
Grapeseed oil and peppermint oil on the length of her hair.
[2]      Shampooed with Elasta Qp Creme Conditioning Shampoo .
[3]      Applied Apple Cider Vinegar to her scalp for 5mins and rinsed ACV helps with
dandruff and Ria’s scalp was overloaded lol.  I didn’t realize how awful this stuff
smells but this made her scalp SQUEAKY clean and the smell didn’t linger after
          rinsing. Thumbs up ACV.
[4]      Deep Conditioned with KeraPRO Restorative Treatment  DIY Steaming Method)
[5]      Used a T-shirt to absorb excess water.
[6]      Applied the leave in’s of Herbal Essences Split End Protector , Aphogee Keratin
& Green Tea Restructurizer, Organix Anti Breakage Serum and detangled carefully.
[7]      Ria wanted a curly hair style so I used 17 Flexi-Rods and one regular roller (as I ran
out of Flexi rods) with end wrap papers on her ends.  I used my moisturizing spray
mainly for her ends to wrap around the rods.
[8]      Applied TRESemme Heat Tamer Spray  and she sat under the dryer for 1 hr & 15mins

Due to Ria’s lack of patience the back of her hair and the front pieces were not dry but she insisted on coming out of the dryer.  I tried my best to separate the curls and blend the damp hair into the dry ones with Hot Six oil rubbed on my palms.  Her hair still turned out great, what do you think?

Here are the before and after results:

5)      Have you heard of any of the products used by Tomes Edition on your hair?
Ria: I have heard about the brand Elasta QP before and I have a friend who also uses
the  Elasta QP Olive Oil/Mango Butter Moisturizer

6)      Did any product used by Tomes Edition stand out at you to purchase and why?
Ria: I purchased the Elasta QP line of products a week after because I fell in love
with the texture and smell of my hair when Tomi was done.

7)      How is the product working for you?
Ria: I have used them once so far and it came out quite good.

8)      How did your hair feel after your wash day compliments Tomes Edition?
Ria: Silky and soft even though I had new growth.

9)      Which step stood out the most to you?
Ria: The prepoo as well as the use of the apple cider vinegar to remove dry scalp.

10)    Will you incorporate anything done on your hair compliments Tomes Edition?
Ria: Yes I will begin to prepoo my hair from now on.

Hope you enjoyed meeting Ria...
