Tomes Edition Hair “TREATS” ::Spotlight:: Dionne’s Wash Day...

Over the course of my life I have been blessed with a lot of supportive friends that have been cheering me on from the sidelines, since I started my Healthy Hair Journey. So I decided as a token of my appreciation, to give some of them hair “Treats” compliments Tomes Edition. Without further adieu let’s introduce the lady that knows me inside and out and our friendship is 18 years strong and today’s highlight Ms Dionne..

Dionne isn't on a hair journey and wants to start a Healthy Hair Journey but she’s just too darn lazy even though she has thick beautiful full shoulder length hair.

::Let’s get to know Dionne alil bit more::

Dionne has been relaxed for 14 years and gets a relaxer 4 times a year. Straight off Dionne is practicing healthy hair habits by stretching her relaxer but she doesn't even know she is lol.  I had a look at the products she uses on her wash days which comprises of Elasta Soy OYL UltraHydration Shampoo and Deep Conditions with Elasta Dpr 11 Deep Penetrating Conditioner and moisturizes with Mizani Coconut Souffle Light Moisturizing Hairdress.  As you can see her products are protein heavy and I felt it on her strands which were rough. She also uses heat every wash day by blow drying and on relaxer day as well.

Before starting Dionne’s wash day I checked her hair to access it so I would know how to go
about her wash day. She is 8 weeks post relaxer and her new growth is extremely coarse and dry. Here are the steps I took for Dionne’s wash day which is similar to mine.

[1]   Prepoo (pre-shampoo treatment)  - Grapeseed Oil on her scalp and Herbal Essences
Tousle Me Softly Conditioner mixed with grapeseed oil and peppermint oil on the length of
       her hair.
[2]   Shampooed with Elasta Soy OYL UltraHydration Shampoo (belongs to her).
[3]   Applied a mixture of regular Vinegar to her scalp for 5 mins and rinsed. Neither of us had
the Apple Cider Vinegar so I tried the regular one. It’s not as effective as the ACV but it
worked. This rinse helps with dandruff and Dionne’s scalp had quite abit of it. Her scalp
       was definitely clean after rinsing.
[4]   Deep Conditioned with Kerapro Intensive Treatment [DIY Steaming method]
[5]   Used a T-shirt to absorb excess water.
[6]   Applied the leave in’s of Herbal Essences Touchably Smooth Split End Protector,
ApHogee Keratin Green Tea Restructurizer, Organix Coconut Milk Anti Breakage
       Serum  and detangled carefully.
[7]   I used a lot of Flexi-Rods on her hair with end wrap papers on her ends.
[8]   Applied Tresemme Heat Tamer spray and we chilled and talked for abit. She refused to go
under the dryer and went to sleep with the rods in her hair damp.
[9]  The following morning I went over by Dionne and took out the flexi rods. She didn't want
them separated for the big curly look and I applied Hot Six Oil on her scalp and her ends.

Dionne has heard of almost all the products used on her because as you can see her stash is fairly decent. She loves the Herbal Essence Tousle Me Softly as she went out and bought it because it left her hair silky and soft. Since she just started using it and its alil early to give a review on it but she just knows it leave her hair soft and silky.  In her exact words “ my hair felt greatttttttttt” after her wash day compliments Tomes Edition.

Her hair still turned out great, what do you think?

Hope you enjoyed meeting Dionne.

  2. Her hair came out so pretty!! I hope the next flexi-rod set I do turns out at least half as good. I don't seem to do a good job with them.

Thanks for sharing Dionne's wash day with us!

  3. Absolutely beautiful! Wish I could get my flexi rods to look like this!! It seems you roll only on one side of the rod. can you have a tutorial on that?

  4. Thanks Ladies, we both appreciate your sentiments.
@ Ghanaian Emprezz I was planning to do a flexi rod set on my hair this weekend so I can certainly try to record it.
