My Best Flat Twist Out On Relaxed Hair…

Singing “It’s the most wonderful time of the year”. Christmas is such a special occasion to be spent with family and friends and also to give back to the less fortunate and don’t ever forget Jesus is the reason for the season.

Relaxer Day Results | Length Check…

I tried extremely hard to maintain my new regimen to reap the best results after this relaxer stretch.  Since my big chop back in June my ends have relatively remained the same.  I didn't trim or cut my hair this time around only because my ends seemed in good shape. I hope to be APL in December.

A NEW Regimen for Longer & Healthier Hair…

Let me just let you know the practices I do on MY hair may not have the same effect on your hair since all of our heads are different. What I would say, is to do trial and error until you find the best techniques and products for your hair. I recently big chopped my hair due to inconsistency, so I have a created a regimen to get me back on track first and then moving forward to achieving my hair goals.

Since moisturizing and sealing most almost non-existent in the last 6 months, my main focus was on moisture, moisture and more moisture.

The Perfect Hair Cut…

I have always desired full thick luscious ends all my life and to an extent I had it, but my length remained at my shoulder to maintain it. Before my big chop I was thinking about a pixie cut but I quickly talked myself out of it, plus you guys may never forgive me.

Why I Cut 6 Inches Of My Hair…

'Gasp', on average our hair grows at a rate of ½ inch per month, which totals 6 inches of growth in 1 year and it disappeared in a blink of an eye.  My entire experience of my big chop can be found here, if you haven’t read it yet.  I have been thinking about a major cut for a while but didn't realize my hair needed much more than that.

I Big Chopped…

Yes I did! Before you think I've given up on the creamy crack, I have not.  I’m not going natural, atleast not anytime soon. I’m pretty happy with my relaxed hair. I got my hair cut at Iconic Hair Salon by Keisha.  She was professional and the service was great.

Vibrant Colored Relaxed Hair…

I have been loving how vibrant my hair has been looking especially on relaxer days.  I don’t bother to dye over my hair during my stretch because my hair is still relatively redish but not as bright and I’m fine with it. The dye I use is a rinse (semi-permanent) which is safe to use on relaxer day without damage.

Is a Hair Trim The Same As A Hair Cut….

Do you think a trim is the same as a hair cut? I ask because I want to get my ends trimmed but that falls under the bracket of "cut" here in Canada.  I remember when I called my stylist in Barbados last year and my hair was trimmed how I like it and it was very affordable. My mind was totally blown by the price and the classification from trim to cut.

Relaxer Day Results | Length Check…

Length check is one of the most anticipating aspect of relaxing your hair after stretching a relaxer for months at a time.  Who doesn’t want to see the progress you have made or not over the past couple of months? It also gives you an idea if your regimen was working or not.  Truth be told I skipped a couple of weeks of deep conditioning with heat and that's important for me. I also used my hooded dryer for quite some time, mainly to dry my roots because I catch a cold very easily if my scalp is wet for excessive long periods.

Relaxer Day Results…

I relax my hair 3 or 4 times a year depending on which month my first relaxer fell on. This year I’ll be relaxing my hair 4 times and this is number 2. My routine hasn't changed from how I prep my hair for relaxer day and how it actually goes.

My Love & Hate Relationship With Curly Hairstyles…

There are various ways you can achieve curly hairstyles: with Flexirods, Bantu Knots, Rollers, Perm Rods, Twist out or Braid Out.  I have done all of these methods and my favorite method is Flexirods. I’m still yet to master Bantu Knot out. I absolutely love curly hairstyles but at some point I hate them.

Wash Day | Flexi-rods Using the Horseshoe Method…

While sitting under my hooded dryer with my deep conditioner in my hair, I looked at videos on youtube on various ways to do flexi-rods set. I know you’re saying but Tomes you already know how to install flexi-rods. Don’t panic, I knew I wanted to sleep in the rods and rollng them straight up, will mean my hair will take forever to dry and my ends may not dry due to the amount of times my hair will go around the rods. I stumbled on the horseshoe method which would have been perfect for what I wanted to achieve.

2 Inches Of New Growth @ 10 Weeks Post Relaxer…

They say what you put on the inside of your body shows up on the outside and I have been trying out a new food supplement more regularly and my new growth has been growing faster than I expected. No its not vitamins. I’m still testing it out now and will let you know if it proves to produce more new growth for this relaxer stretch.

My 24hr Flat Twist & Curl On Relaxed Hair…

My new growth is a lot more than I’m used to at this stage of my relaxer stretch. To minimize breakage and single strands knots,  I stretch my new growth to solve those issues.  I decided to give flat twist out another try, you can see my 1st attempt here.

Jazz Up Your Hair With Flexi-Rods…

I avoided putting anything on my scalp for the first two weeks after I relaxed my hair. Why? I learned my lesson from my last relaxer touch up by adding wayyyyyy too much oil to my hair while flat ironing, which stuck my strands together and my ends appeared thin.  I wore my hair straight for one whole week and I started to get tired of it even though I loved looking in the mirror and seeing my length.  Instead of throwing in the towel, I decided to add some flexi-rods to jazz up my hair and ends.

Ways To Maintain My Flatironed Hair...

Relaxer days are the only days I take the dust off my flatiron and use it on my hair.  That happens 3-4 times per year.  I try very hard to minimize the amount of direct heat I place on my hair.

How I Dye My Relaxed Hair…

I remember the days, I loved dyeing my hair black because I thought black hair ‘looked healthy’ and now black is the furthest color on my mind. Also the color black doesn’t mean your hair is healthy. Knowledge is power.

The Importance Of A Successful Relaxer Stretch…

There is no worst feeling than stretching your relaxer for more than 3 months and you end up trimming off any progress made because you failed to take care of your hair properly. It's almost like, what was the sense of your relaxer stretch.  If you grow 2inches and trim 2inches it makes you feel defeated. Raise your hand if you agree with me [raises hand]. Who doesn't like celebrating after making progress on your healthy hair journey. Don't get me wrong, if you need a trim go ahead and get it done, but after having a major cut my ends should still be in shape.
