Relaxer Day Results…

I setup my tripod to take photos with my camera using the 10-second timing setting. After reaching over a table, to keep on pressing the button to take the photos I realized all of them were in black and white, what a bummer I said, because I had to do it all over in colour. Instead of deleting them I thought to share with you guys.

Relaxer Day Results…

I relaxed my hair myself at 18 weeks post relaxer and it was a lot tedious than I imagined.  I’m officially a DIY relaxer girl *throws confetti*. The night before my relaxer I put my hair in four sections and sprayed my new growth with Mane n Tail detangler and combed with my wide width comb followed by a smaller teeth comb to get all the tangles or knots out. I did this because I wanted to be able to part through my hair while applying the relaxer to my new growth only. I applied Vaseline on my scalp, tied down my hair and went to sleep.  I was hoping for some texture and not bone straight results.

Relaxer Day Results & I CUT 3 Inches off…

The night before my relaxer, I parted my hair in 4 sections and sprayed my new growth with the Mane n Tail detangler, then combed with my wide width comb followed by smaller teeth comb to make sure all my coils were combed out properly so it’s easier when the relaxer is applied. Then I applied Vaseline on my scalp.  It took me 1 hour & 30mins to carefully detangle.

The morning of my relaxer I applied Extra Virgin Olive Oil on my ends first followed by Roux Porosity Control Corrector Conditioner on my ends to protect it from relaxer run off.

My relaxer process was exactly the same as the June relaxer day results seen (here) (same process and products used) except the total time of application and smoothing took 12mins. As usual, my hair was fully wrapped and I left the salon with my hair the same way after sitting under the dryer for 1hr & 15mins and my hair was still damp at the top.  The back of my hair came out bone straight but the top has alil texture to it. I got one burn and suffered some breakage during the relaxer process.

A couple hours later I took down the wrap and I realized that my nape doesn't grow not nearly

Relaxer Prep & New Growth @ 14 Weeks Post

Once I’m incorporating protein into my wash day, it means jumping in and out the shower 3 times argh. I'm using protein to strengthen my strands before undergoing the relaxer process, which breaks down the bonds in the hair follicle which makes your tresses straight (from curly or coily to straight).  I finger detangled first, then followed up with my width comb and strangely enough I didn't need my Mane n Tail Detangler like the last wash day before my relaxer in June which was a total nightmare

[1  Prepooed with Grapeseed oil and coconut oil with a few drops of peppermint on my scalp
and on the length of my hair for 30mins under my heat cap.
[2  Shampooed with ORS Creamy Aloe Shampoo (remove build up) & Elasta QP Crème
       Conditioning Shampoo.
[3]   I normally use the Aphogee two step treatment (hard protein treatment)but I ran out and
couldn’t find any at short notice so I used ORS Hair Mayonaise mixed with Extra Virgin
Olive Oil and Coconut oil for 25mins under my heat cap (this is a medium protein
treatment). I prefer to do my protein treatments on clean clarified hair. I don't like the
strong smell of this DC because i can't stand perfume smells. This has always been in
my stash as a back up plan for my Aphogee.
[4]  Deep Conditioned with Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask for 45mins
       with heat.
[5  Rinse and wrap my hair in a t-shirt for 1 hour
[6]   With my hair in 4 sections sprayed Aphogee Keratin Green Tea Reconstructizer and
Herbal Essence Split Ended Protector (my ends only) , Aussie Moist Conditioner and
detangled very carefully. This was the part that really shocked me because I would
normally use my Mane n Tale Detangler at this point but the comb glided through my
       new growth.

Relaxer Day Results…

Let me apologize for how late this post is. Last weekend was hectic and just full of excitement. The night before my relaxer I took my time and detangle my hair with my favorite Mane n Tail Detangler. I parted my hair in 4 sections and sprayed the Detangler on my new growth, then combed with my wide width comb, followed by smaller teeth comb to make sure all my coils were combed out properly so it’s easier when the relaxer is applied. Then I applied Vaseline on my scalp.  It took me 2 hours to carefully detangle.  I can’t imagine what you ladies who are transitioning go through on your wash days, takes my hat off to you guys

The morning of my relaxer I applied Extra Virgin Olive Oil on my ends first, followed by Roux Correction Conditioner on my ends to protect it from relaxer run off. I headed down to my favorite hairdresser in Bridgetown for 8:00 am and I was her first client.

[1]      She used the Optimum Multi-Mineral Reduced PH Crème Relaxer in which the
total application, smoothing and combing through time took 25 mins
[2]      She washed out the relaxer and Shampooed with Motions Neutralizing Shampoo
          twice.
[3]      She applied the Elasta QP Soy OYL Ultra Hydration Anti-Breakage Moisture Rich
Deep Conditioner, placed a plastic cap on my hair and I headed under the dryer
          for 45 mins
[4]      I allowed my hair to cool off first before she washed out the deep conditioner
[5]      She applied Blue Magic Tea Tree Oil Leave in conditioner
[6]      My hair was full wrapped and sat under the dryer for 1 hour

I was getting frustrated being under the dryer so I left the salon at 10:30 am that’s record time for me, with my hair still wrapped.  Only the top of my hair was damp but I figured while walking around in town the sun will help dry it, plus I can go under my dryer when I get home.  My hairdresser was not pleased that I didn’t let the hair totally dry but she knows I can take care of my hair.

To be honest when  got home I was nervous to take down my wrap because I was not sure if I

Relaxer Day YAY!!!!

If you read my relaxer prep (Click Here) you would know that I decided to go to my favorite hairdresser for my corrective relaxer (6 weeks post) after I ended up with texlaxed hair with my first ever self-relaxer.

So I got up early on Saturday morning and headed to the salon for 8.00am and luckily there was only one person ahead of me who only wanted a treatment done Smiley

1)      She started my relaxer first and used the (Optimum Multi-Mineral Creme Relaxer)) in which
the total application, smoothing and combing through time took 25 mins

2)      She washed out the relaxer and used ((Motions Neutralizing Shampoo)) twice on my hair

3)      She applied the (Elasta OP Soy Ultra Hydration Deep Conditioner placed a plastic cap on
my hair and  I headed under the dryer for 30 mins

4)      I allowed my hair to cool off first before she washed out the deep conditioner

5)      She put something in my hair that I believe is the leave in conditioner but I honestly can’t
tell you what it was as she moved the container quickly, lol *sneaky*

6)      My hair was fully wrapped and I sat under the dryer for 1 hour and 15 mins

7)      She applied some serum to my hair and I was sent back under the dryer for another 15 mins
as the top  was slightly damp

Finally when my hair was dry, she applied more serum to my hair especially my ends, then she combed down my hair and offered to give me a trim and I immediately said “nope, next relaxer.” *hairdressers are scissors happy*

Overall am I happy with my results? Yes I am yay!!!!!!! I love how shiny my hair looks and I couldn’t stop swinging my hair left and right (hoping not to pull a muscle in my neck ) and of course I retained the length I anticipated. I only got two little scalp burns on the right hand side of my head, but nothing major to fuss about. My relaxer prep definitely worked out in my favour and I’m happy about that. This is truly the longest I have seen my hair as an adult and I can’t stop raving about it. APL I see you Smiley

Some of the top of my hair was left with some texture as seen in picture (A) and I actually like it but

Relaxer Prep...

Before my hair journey my last wash day before relaxer was 2 weeks before and all I used to do was grease my scalp with Vaseline every 4 days so that by relaxer day my scalp was protected and my strands were very heavy coated as well. I once tried washing my hair a week before and my scalp burned so badly that I swore what people said was true that “relaxer works better on dirty hair than clean hair”, sigh but the funny thing is that I hardly got burns when I washed two weeks before.

Anyways fast forward to post hair journey, I washed my hair a week before and it burned as well but my hairdresser used extra strength so I believe that added to my scalp burns. This second time around I self-relaxed and didn't end up with burns but now I have texlaxed hair *shrug*

My 3rd relaxer I’m going back to my hairdresser to get a corrective relaxer at 6 weeks post and this is how I plan to prep for my relaxer to avoid burns *fingers crossed*
