Amazon Mini Hair Haul…

During 2015, I only used products that I knew and didn't bother to try new products.  I do have a couple of new product lines I want to try later on this year. I logged onto Amazon and the price was much better than in stores for the products below, so I jumped at the opportunity to buy them. I also picked up a new product which will help keep up the moisture levels in my hair.

NO More Popping Pills to Boost Hair Growth...

Yup you read the title correctly. Back in February I decided to try out the Spring Valley Hair, Skin and Nails Vitamins and I must say I really liked the results I got. See my review here at 7weeks post and (here) at 14weeks post relaxer.  I only tried this vitamin to see what all the hype was about, by taking vitamins to grow your hair and it’s not a venture I will continue.

Yes I did gain an additional ½ to 1 inch more than normal but what are the consequences of that extra ½ to 1 inch more?  Before I decided on the brand vitamins I wanted to take, I did a lot of research to find out the side effects and NO ONE experienced anything out of the ordinary outside the break-outs due to the high level of biotin in them.  I personally didn't experience an increase in hair growth in any other parts of my body except on my head, perhaps I was lucky lol . I definitely increased my water intake to ensure minimum break-outs happened and I succeeded.

Even though research showed no one experienced any side effects that would be harmful to our

Relaxer Prep & New Growth @ 14 Weeks Post

Once I’m incorporating protein into my wash day, it means jumping in and out the shower 3 times argh. I'm using protein to strengthen my strands before undergoing the relaxer process, which breaks down the bonds in the hair follicle which makes your tresses straight (from curly or coily to straight).  I finger detangled first, then followed up with my width comb and strangely enough I didn't need my Mane n Tail Detangler like the last wash day before my relaxer in June which was a total nightmare

[1  Prepooed with Grapeseed oil and coconut oil with a few drops of peppermint on my scalp
and on the length of my hair for 30mins under my heat cap.
[2  Shampooed with ORS Creamy Aloe Shampoo (remove build up) & Elasta QP Crème
       Conditioning Shampoo.
[3]   I normally use the Aphogee two step treatment (hard protein treatment)but I ran out and
couldn’t find any at short notice so I used ORS Hair Mayonaise mixed with Extra Virgin
Olive Oil and Coconut oil for 25mins under my heat cap (this is a medium protein
treatment). I prefer to do my protein treatments on clean clarified hair. I don't like the
strong smell of this DC because i can't stand perfume smells. This has always been in
my stash as a back up plan for my Aphogee.
[4]  Deep Conditioned with Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask for 45mins
       with heat.
[5  Rinse and wrap my hair in a t-shirt for 1 hour
[6]   With my hair in 4 sections sprayed Aphogee Keratin Green Tea Reconstructizer and
Herbal Essence Split Ended Protector (my ends only) , Aussie Moist Conditioner and
detangled very carefully. This was the part that really shocked me because I would
normally use my Mane n Tale Detangler at this point but the comb glided through my
       new growth.

I fell in love with the Aussie Moist Conditioner (review here) and decided to stock up on it since I haven’t seen it here in Barbados. Due to how awesome the conditioner was I decided to get my mom pick up the Aussie Moist Shampoo as well. Now this shampoo has sulfates but I’m hoping the shampoo is just as great as the conditioner. I used the shampoo for the first time last weekend and my first impression is, ummm it's alil stripping on my hair but I’ll use it more first before I give a full review.

Wash Day With A Twist…

This weekend’s weather was very gloomy and all I wanted to do was lay in bed all day long lol. Getting in and out the shower twice was definitely a no no for me. Also, I didn’t want to risk washing my hair and it takes forever to air dry and I end up with a cold. Due to the weather I was feeling extremely lazy and didn’t want to go through my usual wash day routine. Here’s what I did:

[1]   Deep Conditioned on damp hair with my Queen Helene mixture (review here) for 45mins
using the DIY Steaming method that Age over at Loving My Hair  blogged about. This is

Did You Know I Have A Patch In My Hair…

It saddens me to talk about this and I only have myself to blame.  It all started when I wanted a different look for Christmas in December 2011. So I contacted an old school mate of mine that has her own salon, to get a weave/wig to rock for a couple of weeks.  I ended up getting a wig done on a wig cap but the sides and back were stuck to my skin.  I must say it was fresh and a hair cut I could never imagine myself doing to my own hair and I immediately fell in love.  All my friends commented on how nice it was on me, what do you think?

10 days later my scalp started itching me like crazy and I wanted to take off the wig cap so I could wash my hair and then just put it back on, but boy was that a big mistake.  I picked up my
