What's New In My Hair Product Stash…

I love trying new products but I haven’t done that in a long time.  Upon browsing Sally’s, I noticed there was a sale on various products and since I like the Crème of Nature line I picked up items I have never used before.  My old faithful Queen Helene was slightly cheaper so I purchased 2 of them to stock up.

How I Maintain My Colored Relaxed Hair …

I have always enjoyed dying my hair black pre-healthy hair journey because most stylist say your hair looks healthier in that color than our natural dark brown.  Knowledge is Power and now I know that’s not true. Our hair doesn't need to look black to be deemed healthy.  Initially loved my dark brown hair but since turning the big 30, I decided it was time for change.

Hair Regimen Building: Importance of Deep Conditioner’s - Moisturizing…

What are Deep Conditioner’s?
Deep Conditioner’s are a must have product in any girl’s arsenal.  These are products that add moisture back into your hair to make it more manageable and soft.  Deep conditioner’s help penetrate our strands to encourage elasticity and strength.

What are the benefits of using a Deep Conditioner’s?
Deep Conditioning will improve the overall health of your hair hands down.  It helps to infuse nutrients into our strands to keep it healthy and strong. Even though our hair is made up of proteins we still need proteins to replenish our strands from the everyday wear and tear from combing and brushing. Regular deep conditioning keeps our hair soft, smooth and it also adds shine.  Everyone’s hair needs deep conditioning and for us relaxed girls who use heat styling tools or using hair dyes. By deep conditioning, our hair will be hydrated, soft and replenish the moisture lost.  Deep conditioning helps improves our hair elasticity. It also helps with retaining moisture in our hair and reduces breakage.

How to use Deep Conditioner’s?
You can deep condition on dry hair or after shampooing.  For best results,  add heat to the deep conditioner before placing it on your hair for further penetration. For example, placing the product container in a bowl of warm water to heat it up or in the microwave for 30seconds.  Also cover your hair with a plastic cap to keep the heat locked in. Sit under a heat cap or dryer to maintain the heat level applied to your hair. Rinse with cool water to close the hair cuticles which would help to seal in the moisture from the deep conditioning treatment.  You can boost your Deep Conditioner's effectiveness by adding natural oils or honey to the product before placing it on your hair. Mix the combination thoroughly. Apply the Deep Conditioner from root to the tip, making sure the product is on every strand of hair as pictured.

New Buys| Aunt Jackie’s Curls & Coils…

Please click on the image to enlarge
While I was in Bridgetown last weekend I went into Mall Mart supermarket and saw the Aunt Jackie’s Product line and it seemed reasonably priced for the duo they were offering. Both of them were for $13.95BDS.  I have read great reviews and decided to indulge. What really attracted me to these products were some of the natural ingredients and packaging. All of the ingredients aren't natural so if your hair doesn't like cones this product isn't for you.

Highlights of these products:
  • Sulfate Free
  • Paraben Free
  • Petrolatum Free
  • Mineral Oil Free

How To Make *Miss* Products Work For You…

Don’t you just hate when you spend your hard earned money on a product especially when everyone is raving about it and it doesn't work for you. You can opt to give it away to friends or family if you want, but if you are like me and don’t like wasting money you WILL find a way to make it work for your hair.

Do you remember me whining about the Aussie Moist Shampoo and how my hair hated this stuff (see my review here). Well, even though I diluted it to reduce the harshness, it still didn't work and then a thought came into my head. Since my CON Moisture & Shine Shampoo is so moisturizing why not add abit to the Aussie Moist Shampoo to test it out. This is what I did:

[1]   Get an applicator bottle
[2]   Pour some Aussie Moist Shampoo to point 1 in photo
[3]   Add some CON Moisture & Shine Shampoo to point 2 in photo
[4]   Add Water to point 3 in photo
[5]   Add 5 drops of Peppermint Oil
[6]   Shake very well before use.

I have the best of both worlds right now because my hair gets cleaned and still remains

Hair Product Haul & Hair Accessories

Please click on image to enlarge
I fell in love with the Aussie Moist Conditioner (review here) and decided to stock up on it since I haven’t seen it here in Barbados. Due to how awesome the conditioner was I decided to get my mom pick up the Aussie Moist Shampoo as well. Now this shampoo has sulfates but I’m hoping the shampoo is just as great as the conditioner. I used the shampoo for the first time last weekend and my first impression is, ummm it's alil stripping on my hair but I’ll use it more first before I give a full review.
