Merry Christmas Everyone…

Merry Christmas from my family to yours. I hope you have an amazing season with your family and loved ones and 2017 will be your best year yet.

Jesus is the reason for the season, so please find some time to reflect on how good he has been to you. Do you buy yourself a gift for Christmas? I do.

Did you travel for Christmas this year?

My Best Flat Twist Out On Relaxed Hair…

Singing “It’s the most wonderful time of the year”. Christmas is such a special occasion to be spent with family and friends and also to give back to the less fortunate and don’t ever forget Jesus is the reason for the season.

Why I love Autumn Season…

It was September 1st and we woke up to 3 degrees after experiencing 20 degrees the previous day. Boy, did it feel cold that morning. A couple of days later, all the leaves had turned colors and in no time and the leaves started to fall off.  Its amazing how a few days changed our entire city.

The Beautiful Lake Louise…

A couple weeks ago my family & I went on a road trip and one of our stop was at the beautiful Lake Louise.  The day was cloudy, rainy and pretty chilly that it required coats and enclosing shoes to keep warm.  It was my first time seeing the lake which was filled with hundreds of tourist and locals taking in the beautiful atmosphere.

Style | Prints & Solids With Sandals…

Even though the best month of the year has passed (biased much) I’m still going to reminisce on some of the highlights of my day. I love celebrating any milestones in life because nothing is promised. Life is so precious and not to be taken for granted.  September 16th was the last day of summer in my books as it was 24 degrees.  Matter of fact we have only been seeing single digits this week. [Edit: It snowed this weekend in my city]

Relaxer Day Results | Length Check…

I tried extremely hard to maintain my new regimen to reap the best results after this relaxer stretch.  Since my big chop back in June my ends have relatively remained the same.  I didn't trim or cut my hair this time around only because my ends seemed in good shape. I hope to be APL in December.

Relaxer Day Results…

Can we take a moment to recognize the best month of the year? Ok I’m being biased since today is my birthday and my birth month. I’m so grateful and feeling so blessed to be able to celebrate yet another year of life, filled with love and happiness.  I see life so much differently since I turned 30 and just embracing what life has to offer.  God has been really good to me. Forgive me for getting alittle carried away. Let’s get into my relaxer results.

A NEW Regimen for Longer & Healthier Hair…

Let me just let you know the practices I do on MY hair may not have the same effect on your hair since all of our heads are different. What I would say, is to do trial and error until you find the best techniques and products for your hair. I recently big chopped my hair due to inconsistency, so I have a created a regimen to get me back on track first and then moving forward to achieving my hair goals.

Since moisturizing and sealing most almost non-existent in the last 6 months, my main focus was on moisture, moisture and more moisture.

Long Lost Wash Day…

Why are summers so busy? My life has been extremely hectic over the last couple of weeks but my hair has been getting the attention it needs.  Take a look at my hair during one of my recent wash days.

The Perfect Hair Cut…

I have always desired full thick luscious ends all my life and to an extent I had it, but my length remained at my shoulder to maintain it. Before my big chop I was thinking about a pixie cut but I quickly talked myself out of it, plus you guys may never forgive me.

Why I Cut 6 Inches Of My Hair…

'Gasp', on average our hair grows at a rate of ½ inch per month, which totals 6 inches of growth in 1 year and it disappeared in a blink of an eye.  My entire experience of my big chop can be found here, if you haven’t read it yet.  I have been thinking about a major cut for a while but didn't realize my hair needed much more than that.

I Big Chopped…

Yes I did! Before you think I've given up on the creamy crack, I have not.  I’m not going natural, atleast not anytime soon. I’m pretty happy with my relaxed hair. I got my hair cut at Iconic Hair Salon by Keisha.  She was professional and the service was great.

1-2-3 Simple Steps For Bunning Your Hair…

Since my hair is now long enough to bun without the use of a scrunchie, I have taken full advantage of it. Afterall its less tension in one spot. You can secured it anywhere on your head with the help of 1 bobbi pin or clip.

June 24, 2016

Twist Crown Braid on Relaxed hair…

As much as I love my buns, I need to create hair styles that wouldn't cause any tension in my head.  My buns are usually very loose secured in a scrunchie. I have tried twist crown braids in the past and most of the time it was an epic fail. I gave it a try one more time and loved the results.

Vibrant Colored Relaxed Hair…

I have been loving how vibrant my hair has been looking especially on relaxer days.  I don’t bother to dye over my hair during my stretch because my hair is still relatively redish but not as bright and I’m fine with it. The dye I use is a rinse (semi-permanent) which is safe to use on relaxer day without damage.

Is a Hair Trim The Same As A Hair Cut….

Do you think a trim is the same as a hair cut? I ask because I want to get my ends trimmed but that falls under the bracket of "cut" here in Canada.  I remember when I called my stylist in Barbados last year and my hair was trimmed how I like it and it was very affordable. My mind was totally blown by the price and the classification from trim to cut.
Both pics were taken in 2015 (Year error)

Relaxer Day Results | Length Check…

Length check is one of the most anticipating aspect of relaxing your hair after stretching a relaxer for months at a time.  Who doesn’t want to see the progress you have made or not over the past couple of months? It also gives you an idea if your regimen was working or not.  Truth be told I skipped a couple of weeks of deep conditioning with heat and that's important for me. I also used my hooded dryer for quite some time, mainly to dry my roots because I catch a cold very easily if my scalp is wet for excessive long periods.

Relaxer Day Results…

I relax my hair 3 or 4 times a year depending on which month my first relaxer fell on. This year I’ll be relaxing my hair 4 times and this is number 2. My routine hasn't changed from how I prep my hair for relaxer day and how it actually goes.

Wash Day | How I Prep My Hair For A Relaxer…

My longest wash days are always when I prep my hair for a relaxer and relaxer day itself. It’s important to have your hair in the best shape before applying chemicals to it. Let’s get into my washday.

My Love & Hate Relationship With Curly Hairstyles…

There are various ways you can achieve curly hairstyles: with Flexirods, Bantu Knots, Rollers, Perm Rods, Twist out or Braid Out.  I have done all of these methods and my favorite method is Flexirods. I’m still yet to master Bantu Knot out. I absolutely love curly hairstyles but at some point I hate them.

Wash Day | Flexi-rods Using the Horseshoe Method…

While sitting under my hooded dryer with my deep conditioner in my hair, I looked at videos on youtube on various ways to do flexi-rods set. I know you’re saying but Tomes you already know how to install flexi-rods. Don’t panic, I knew I wanted to sleep in the rods and rollng them straight up, will mean my hair will take forever to dry and my ends may not dry due to the amount of times my hair will go around the rods. I stumbled on the horseshoe method which would have been perfect for what I wanted to achieve.

2 Inches Of New Growth @ 10 Weeks Post Relaxer…

They say what you put on the inside of your body shows up on the outside and I have been trying out a new food supplement more regularly and my new growth has been growing faster than I expected. No its not vitamins. I’m still testing it out now and will let you know if it proves to produce more new growth for this relaxer stretch.

Pink Lips for Spring…

Spring is such a beautiful season where the flowers start blooming, the grass is greener and the weather is warmer.  Last week, we experienced summer weather as it went up to 27 degrees. Back to reality now because the weather is mid teens this week.  I’m bringing out all of my bright lipsticks and pink is one of my favorite colors. Its so girly and cute. I confess I have tons of pink shades lipsticks. I’ll show you my collection soon.

My 24hr Flat Twist & Curl On Relaxed Hair…

My new growth is a lot more than I’m used to at this stage of my relaxer stretch. To minimize breakage and single strands knots,  I stretch my new growth to solve those issues.  I decided to give flat twist out another try, you can see my 1st attempt here.

Wet n Wild | Vamp It Up (919B) Lipstick…

Rocking a vampy lipstick has been on my mind for a long time but I was scared it would look weird on me.  I figured before investing too heavily in my staple lipstick brand, I should try one from a drug store until I feel comfy.  I have a few Wet n Wild lipsticks so I jumped at the opportunity to try Vamp It Up 919B as my vampy lipstick.

Shortest Wash Day Ever…

I’m doing so much better and I want to thank everyone of you who reached out and sent well wishes. I truly appreciated it.  Being sick really drains your mood and I wasn't motivated to open my computer most days to share anything with you guys but i‘m back and trying to get back into my groove.  Let’s dive into the fastest washday I have had in a long time.

Jazz Up Your Hair With Flexi-Rods…

I avoided putting anything on my scalp for the first two weeks after I relaxed my hair. Why? I learned my lesson from my last relaxer touch up by adding wayyyyyy too much oil to my hair while flat ironing, which stuck my strands together and my ends appeared thin.  I wore my hair straight for one whole week and I started to get tired of it even though I loved looking in the mirror and seeing my length.  Instead of throwing in the towel, I decided to add some flexi-rods to jazz up my hair and ends.

Ways To Maintain My Flatironed Hair...

Relaxer days are the only days I take the dust off my flatiron and use it on my hair.  That happens 3-4 times per year.  I try very hard to minimize the amount of direct heat I place on my hair.

How I Dye My Relaxed Hair…

I remember the days, I loved dyeing my hair black because I thought black hair ‘looked healthy’ and now black is the furthest color on my mind. Also the color black doesn’t mean your hair is healthy. Knowledge is power.

Relaxer Day Results: Length Check…

After a long exhausting day with relaxing your hair, doing a length check is one of the most rewarding part of the process. We all want to know what progress we have made after stretching our relaxer. If you haven’t seen my relaxer results go on and check it out here.  Even though I deep conditioned my hair weekly during this stretch, my ends were terribly affected from a previous stretch and since I barely trimmed last relaxer touch up, a trim was necessary this time around.

Wash Day | How I Prep My Hair For A Relaxer…

I was originally going to relax my hair last weekend but prepping didn't happen, which is extremely important.  Last week has been tough, as my hair struggled to stay moisturized, tangle free and no single strand knots.  I really need to start incorporating glycerine fast to see if it will help.  I’m so over this stretch right now and I pray my ends doesn’t hate me.  I do feel like doing a major trim but we will see. Lets get into my washday.

How I’ve Been Wearing My Hair Lately…

Once I get deep into my stretch, I like to see my edges laid because its looks neat and professional.  I always spray my moisturizing mix on my edges before apply aloe vera gel on my edges.  I opted not to brush my new growth, since the line of demarcation is so fragile but to use my hands to smoothen out my hair.  I was extremely surprised by the amount of new growth which you can see by the clear distinction between my colored hair and new growth.

Amazon Mini Hair Haul…

During 2015, I only used products that I knew and didn't bother to try new products.  I do have a couple of new product lines I want to try later on this year. I logged onto Amazon and the price was much better than in stores for the products below, so I jumped at the opportunity to buy them. I also picked up a new product which will help keep up the moisture levels in my hair.

Style | Maroon Midriff BodyCon Dress…

Just before approaching the age of 30 my fashion sense started to change rapidly.  Since I’m short [or should I say average height] I used to gravitate towards dresses or skirts that were an inch above my knee because it looked awkward otherwise.  During my teenage years, if your school uniform was below your knee, you felt or got called 'grandma' because it made you look old.  Fast forward to my preferred choice which is to lean toward skirts and dresses that fall right below my knee. Cover up those knees girl! I honestly think its looks extremely classy now.

Favorite Ways To Style My Relaxed Hair …

As much as I love touching and playing with my new growth I’m not ready to throw in the towel with the creamy crack. Pre-hair journey, I used to relax my hair every 6-8 weeks and now I can’t believe how little new growth I had at that stage and why I couldn't manage my hair back then. Knowledge is power!

5 Fruits for Glowing Skin & Hair…

Let me be the first to admit fruits wasn’t my favorite item to eat growing up or even if I had the option I would opt out of it.  Fast forward to today and its one of the first things I reach to eat to get my day started. I usually stick to the basic of an apple a day keeps the doctor away but of recently I started incorporating other fruits.
