Favorite Ways To Style My Relaxed Hair …

As much as I love touching and playing with my new growth I’m not ready to throw in the towel with the creamy crack. Pre-hair journey, I used to relax my hair every 6-8 weeks and now I can’t believe how little new growth I had at that stage and why I couldn't manage my hair back then. Knowledge is power!

Alot of bloggers say that relaxer day is like Christmas. Why you may ask? It’s an exciting period to feel and see your scalp again, to wear your hair straight and also see how much progress you would have made.  I only flat iron my hair on relaxer day and I try to wear my hair straight for 2 weeks to enjoy tossing my hair around.

For many years I always parted my hair on the side because I think it suits my face shape but for some reason I tried the middle part and realize its suits my face as well. Well, that’s my opinion.  I do find when I’m on my monthly, my face bloats abit and a middle part isn't cute anymore. Side part for the win.  Its important to change up where you part your hair because it can lead to thinning in that area because of the tension of the same direction it’s being pulled in. Switch it up when you can to maintain full edges.

Curls are super fun to rock.  For special occasions like birthdays, Christmas I tend to whip out my flexi-rods for fun bouncy curls.  I do find that rolling the hair in a spiral motion last longer than in an upward motion.  I usually pin the sides and back up with bobbi pins and tie a silk scarf loosely over my hair. Its not the traditional pineapple method but it works for me.  The only draw back is the length of your hair can go from bra strap to neck length.  But as the days go on, the curls drops to give an elongated look which I actually prefer.

Its winter and we are all in protective style mode to ensure our hair is moisturized from harsh the weather.  My to go style has always been buns, buns and more buns.  I always switch where I’m wearing my buns which is extremely important to avoid breakage in one particular area as a result of tension.  I may wear my hair in a high bun for 3 days and a low bun for 2 days during a work week.  I have worn my hair out during winter so far, but I made sure once I got home to moisturize my hair to replenish the moisture lost. Don’t sleep on your moisturizer during winter. Its my first winter and I’m sounding like a pro lol.  Seriously the weather hasn't been too bad yet. We have only experience two days with (minus) -20degrees and I’m a happy camper.

I love my relaxed hair and the versatility of the various styles my hair can do. All Naturals, Texlaxed and Relaxed women can rock all of these styles.  For 2016, I want to enjoy my hair more and try different hair styles. Will you join me?
