I avoided putting anything on my scalp for the first two weeks after I relaxed my hair. Why? I learned my lesson from my last relaxer touch up by adding wayyyyyy too much oil to my hair while flat ironing, which stuck my strands together and my ends appeared thin. I wore my hair straight for one whole week and I started to get tired of it even though I loved looking in the mirror and seeing my length. Instead of throwing in the towel, I decided to add some flexi-rods to jazz up my hair and ends.
Even though I know my hair is growing, I still get super excited to actually see the length. As I was rodding my hair I couldn’t believe how far I needed to stretch my arms to get to the ends of my hair. Don’t judge me, I’m super proud of how far my hair has come over the years. My hair has literally been half of this length all my life.
I sprayed the last 4 inches of my hair (bone straight ends) with my moisturizing mix and wrapped my hair towards my roots. I used 6 orange flexi-rods and 1 grey flexi-rod from my Diane Flexi-rod pack i bought recently. I wasn't expecting super defined curls since I didn't use any foam wrap but I was pleasently surprised with the outcome. I really love rocking curls on just my ends which was the look I was going for.
The following day I unraveled my hair and separated with coconut oil rubbed in my palms. Please forgive the quality of these pictures. It’s difficult because its dark when I leave home on morning's so taking pictures is impossible and the sun is already going down by the time I get home. I miss my natural lighting.
I also took these pictures 8 hours after the take down when I got home. I think the curls held up pretty well.
I was really hoping my ends were dry since I let it air dry overnight by rolling upwards. This was actually an uncomfortable nights rest which isn't normal for rodding in this direction. Things we do as women for beauty.
After rocking my curls for two days I decided to pin it up by securing my ends. I was alil nervous with my ends rubbing on my back so many days back to back, that was another reason I pinned it up.

ReplyDelete2 days before pinning it up. However on washday my ends were still curly
DeleteYour hair looks great Tomi! I always get nervous too when keeping my hair down, usually like 2-3 days max before I'm about that bun life again lol
ReplyDeleteYup i'm a serial bunner like your after 4 weeks post relaxer.
DeleteLove your curls and your hair is growing leaps and bounds.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lai!
DeleteDamping help to get define curls even without using a mousse just that the curls may fall faster without a holding product. I have cornrow dry hair and no defined curls but on damp hair the curls held a lot better
ReplyDeleteFor sure Shantel!
DeleteYours curls are popping and your hair is really long. I know the feeling about the lighting...I have the same problem. Great post.
ReplyDeleteNo judgement here. You should be proud of all your hard work. I'm proud of you! I love the hair.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nerline I am too.
DeleteSuper cute curls chica! I still just can't get the hand of flexi-rods. I want to give them one more try before I gift them to my little cousin!
