How To Make *Miss* Products Work For You…

Don’t you just hate when you spend your hard earned money on a product especially when everyone is raving about it and it doesn't work for you. You can opt to give it away to friends or family if you want, but if you are like me and don’t like wasting money you WILL find a way to make it work for your hair.

Do you remember me whining about the Aussie Moist Shampoo and how my hair hated this stuff (see my review here). Well, even though I diluted it to reduce the harshness, it still didn't work and then a thought came into my head. Since my CON Moisture & Shine Shampoo is so moisturizing why not add abit to the Aussie Moist Shampoo to test it out. This is what I did:

[1]   Get an applicator bottle
[2]   Pour some Aussie Moist Shampoo to point 1 in photo
[3]   Add some CON Moisture & Shine Shampoo to point 2 in photo
[4]   Add Water to point 3 in photo
[5]   Add 5 drops of Peppermint Oil
[6]   Shake very well before use.

I have the best of both worlds right now because my hair gets cleaned and still remains

moisturized #winning. I don’t know why I didn't think about this sooner but I’m glad that I did because it lathers very well and by using the applicator bottle the Shampoo gets directly to my scalp and gets the job done.  By mixing an awful product with a great product we end up in the middle which equals a satisfied customer yayy me. The balancing out product to make a difference here was the CON Moisture & Shine Shampoo.

This will also apply to my Deep Conditioner's that is also a miss. If you saw my review on Queen Helene Cholesterol you will remember it does nothing for my hair on its own, but with additions its superb. This is how I made it work:

[1]   Get a bowl for mixture
[2]   Add Queen Helene Cholesterol
[3]   Add Extra Virgin Coconut Oil & Extra Virgin Olive Oil (both are penetrating oils)
[4]   Add Roux Corrector Conditioner (adds moisture)
[5]   Add 5 drops of Peppermint oil (to mask smell)
[6]   Add 1 table spoon of Honey (latest addition to the mixture which adds moisture)
[7]   Mix thoroughly and use.

My hair feels so moisturized and silky with this combo and the price of Queen Helene is unbeatable. The balancing product that made a difference was Roux Correction Conditioner, Oils and honey.

What do you do when products doesn't work for your hair & Do you have any concoctions please share?

  1. Seriously that is such a great idea especially for product junkies! That is the reason why I refuse to try to many products because I don't want to spend money on something that might not work. So I've just been sticking to what works on my hair and not trying anything else. I need to probably become more adventurous.

  2. I do the same thing, I hate wasting my money so I just mix it with other products until it is all done

  4. Oh my gosh! This is the post that I needed in my life. Time to make some "co-cleansers" out of my sucky shampoos and decent conditioners. Thanks chica!

  5. Girl! I'm so glad you shared this post! I have quite a few products in my bin that were misses that I have yet to throw away. I was going to have a swap party with my friends but I haven't had time to do that so far. I'm going to take your suggestions and do a bit of mixing myself. I'll be sure to share my results with you!
