OOTD | Casual Friday Style…

My wardrobe is filled with a lot of black and white, navy blue and grey.  Last summer I was encouraged to buy bright bold colors to spice things up. I bought the clothes but didn't experiment with them.
Color Blocking on a Casual Friday
I bought this red pants from Primark last year when I was on vacation in England. I actually only took off the tags the same morning I was going to wear it. I pondered what color top to wear with it and of course I opted for the safer option of black or white.  My eyes came across this yellow top which I also bought on my vacation in England last June. When I paired them together I realized it could work but I needed a safe color to tone things down.  I grabbed my tan flats which I got from payless to match my Nine West Tan bag.
Low Bun
During my last stretch I wore my hair out a lot and didn't retain my length. For my current stretch I want to have fun with my hair but also keep my ends protected. Instead of a straight bun, I sectioned the top of my hair to give a a slight Mohawk effect.  It wasn't as high as I imagined but it seemed to work.
Color Blocking on a Casual Friday
Color blocking is simply putting two different colors that you wouldn't obviously match together and make it work.  I get tons of examples from Fashionably Fabulous and Food Fashion & Flow bloggers.  Don’t be afraid to try something new or step outside your comfort zone and live alittle.

Have you ever color blocked?

  1. This is so cute! I tend to stay on the safe side with my wardrobe and don't experiment as much as I'd like. You've given me inspiration!

  6. I love this look, Tomi! I love the colors you used for color blocking. I need to experiment more with my style as well. Lately it's been a lot of graphic tees, jeans, and sneakers. I have to step it up for the summer. Thanks for the inspiration!
