Relaxer Day Results…

I relaxed my hair myself at 12 weeks post relaxer with ORS Relaxer in Normal strength and I’m getting the same results everytime. My routine hasn't changed from how I prep my hair for relaxer day, as seen here.
Relaxer Day Results - June 2015
1.]   I started at the top right hand corner and worked myself around my entire head in 18 mins. I spent 13mins for application and 5 mins smoothing out the relaxer with my fingers. I didn't want my hair bone straight so I didn't use a comb to smoothen out the hair.
2.]   I hopped into the shower and rinsed my hair thoroughly.
3.]   Applied Aphogee 2 min Reconstructor for 2 mins and rinsed to add back some strength.
4.]   Shampooed with Motions Neutralizing Shampoo 3 times and rinsed.

5.]   Deep conditioned with my Queen Helene mixture and added Aphogee 2 min reconstructor to my ends. I  sat under my heat cap for 30mins and rinsed. I usually use ORS replenishing pak but i couldn't find any at the store.
6.]   I dyed my hair again. I used the excess of the Kiss Express Dye in the color Crimson. I sat under my heat cap for 25mins with the dye and rinsed. I followed up with V05 Moisture Milks Conditioner to add back some softness to my hair, remove the excess dye and mask some of the smell.  See what I mean about my scalp being stain from my previous dyed post below.

7.]   Rinsed and wrapped my hair in a T-shirt for 40mins.
8.]   My leave-in conditioners were Elasta QP Leave-in-H2 and alittle Aussie Moist Conditioner and sealed with Extra Virgin Coconut Oil. Once my hair was 90% dry I decided to blow dry my roots that were still damp on warm temperature.

Then 3 days later, I flat ironed my hair. It was supposed to be the following day but time got away from me. I sprayed my hair with Elasta QP Leave-in-H2 which is a heat protectant and sealed with Extra Virgin Coconut Oil. I did one pass on majority of my hair and two passes on my crown since that’s the thickest part of my hair.  I did realize some areas weren't bone straight but I didn’t mind since you guys will basically get the idea of what my length is now. I didn't take pictures till the following day so forgive my hair for not looking shiny as I didn't apply anything to it all day.

Some of my ends are touching my bra but when the majority of my ends are touching my bra will then I claim Bra strap length.

I looked back at my results from March 2015 here and realized I retained about 1 ½ inches over my stretch. I didn't trim this time and it looks like my U shaped is partially still there. I do see some thinning in the ends but I’ll snip them away on another relaxer day.

Overall I’m happy with my results. Stay tune for my hair color post which seem to be brighter than I imagined.

  6. Your hair is gorgeous and it's growing so long. Love the pictorials thinking of self-relaxing you make it look so easy. Approximately how many twists do you have on each side would you say 8-10?

    Awesome progress.

  10. Your pony tail is so thick and beautiful, indeed black hair can grow too! And it's amazing that your hair is still healthy even with the colour treatment, I used to think that colour can cause some hair damage clearly it's not true with the technique that you have used...

  11. Thanks you ladies. @ Nerline, once its a rinse its fine. @Becca, dying your hair can cause breakage, you just have to deep condition your hair regularly and increase your moisture levels.

  17. Your hair always looks so strong and healthy. It makes me remember wearing a relaxer, but I don't think I will ever wear one again, although seeing your hair makes it very tempting.
