How I Used This Product:

As a Moisturizer after airdryng. Sometimes used daily or every 3 days.

::The Assessment::

This moisturizer comes in a jar which is a plus because it’s easily accessible.  Its very thick and the texture is creamy. A little can go a long way. It can last up to 3-4months.  It keeps my hair soft, moisturized and it doesn't weigh my hair down or make it greasy.  The smell is wonderful like fruity mango, which for a second could make you eat your fingers lol. It also adds great shine.

The smell doesn't linger and its not over powering because you know I stay away from strong smelling products.  I used to wonder why I my hair had a rancid smell just before my wash day until one of my readers highlighted that this moisturizer makes her hair smell rancid. At first I didn't share the same result but after taking time to observe my hair, I realized that the rancid smell was coming from constant usage since that was the only product I used in between wash days. When too much product is used or after daily use it could weigh your hair down due to its consistency.

Looking at the ingredients there are amazing penetrating ingredients like Olive oil, Coconut oil and  Avocado oil. Please note the further down the ingredient is on the list the lower the content in the product. Eg Olive oil is the 2nd item where as Avocado oil is the 19th item on the list which means the amount of Olive oil is higher than Avocado oil.

Silk Protein Hydrolyzed is the natural lipids from palm oil combined with natural Silk derived protein (amino acids). Hydrolyzed is known for its excellent moisture binding properties, repair and feel which provides a protective barrier. It’s so far down the list I wouldn't worry about the protein in it.

Overall this is my staple moisturizer and I reach for it all the time. It’s available in most beauty supply stores in Barbados but the price may range.

Have you used the Elasta QP Olive Oil & Mango Butter & what are your thoughts on it?

  1. I think this is the best moisturizer I have ever used. It smells amazing and leaves my hair feeling great. I also like how I can apply it to flat ironed hair as well as air dried.

  7. I didn't realise this stuff made hair smell rancid. I'm not massively fond of the smell, but thought it was a good moisturiser x

    1. I live in the tropics and I believe as Marsha said below that the heat may play a factor in smell after constant usage. Darn you don't like the smell either!

  8. I thought I was the only one noticing the rancid smell as none of the reviews I came across mentioned it!!! I actually thought I was unlucky enough to purchase a bad batch twice! I wonder if the heat in the Caribbean has an effect on this product.

    1. I didn't see anyone mention that in their review either but you may be right about the heat playing a factor in the smell after daily usage.
