Oh my where did 2013 go, December is here and it’s the most wonderful time of the year. I’m not one to really care about my edges for work because I don’t interact with customers or work in the front line however when I’m going out with my girls or otherwise, coily edges is a no no. If you follow me on instagram, you would have seen when I posted about my sleeked edges. Normally I would do a flexi-rod set to blend both textures but I was going out Friday night with my girls and there was no way I would have time to do all of that.
A couple months ago I went into Bridgetown to look for the famous Eco-Style Gel but I couldn't find any at that point in time so I scooped up Ampro Pro Styl Protein Styling Gel as a backup product for $3.99BDS. Eco-Styler Gel is available in Barbados at various beauty supply stores and I saw this after I purchased the Ampro Pro Styl Gel. It 's a protein gel but its alcohol free and non greasy. Directions say [1] Apply to wet or dry hair and comb through [2] Allow to dry naturally or use a blow dryer [3] Ideal for use with sculptured styles and roller sets.
I didn't want a super hard hold and since I've never used gel on my edges since I started my Healthy Hair Journey, [1] I decided to use my moisturizing spray first on my edges [2] Followed by wetting my soft brush [3] I dipped the brush into the gel and softly combed my edges [4] I tied my edges down with a scarf for 3 hours and I really like the results and would definitely use this gel again.

It was nice to see my coils turn into waves almost making me experience what 3b hair looks
like lol. I’m 11 weeks Post relaxer and I have managed to tame my edges
I went to an event called “cooler vibes” which was a soca/calypso party held at Naniki Restaurant in St. Joseph, with my girls and the vibe was nice, check out what I wore.

What methods do you use to tame/sleek down your edges?

Oh my!!! What a transformation! I have never heard of a protein gel, nor have I even though of using moisturising spray before using a gel! The waves are amazing!! And your outfit is cute! Remembers me of the summer days gone by…sniff! Girl you have some growth in there, can’t wait to see your progress in January!
ReplyDeleteThanks Yvonne. Using the moisturizing spray just came to me, nothing planned and I had no flakes #winning
DeleteI'm 11 weeks post too yayy ^_^. Slick edges are a must for me every day. Once I get past 8 weeks post, I spray my edges with s-curl then apply my eco styler gel (the blue or green olive oil), then tie my hair down every night with a satin scarf and I have neat waves every day. I'm at the point I always am as I come to 3 months post, should I relax or transition. Anyhoo, you hair's looking good chick. HHJ!
ReplyDeleteGreat minds think alike with using moisturizing product first. I'm so not a night hair kinda girl, early morning for me.
DeleteCute outfit! I've not heard of this gel before but it obviously does the trick. Lovely x
ReplyDeleteThis gel has been around before Eco-Styler and it does work without any flakes.
DeleteI use Am Pro when I am out of my regular gel and it does do wonders on smoothing out edges.
ReplyDeleteI can't agree more K .Elizabeth.
DeleteIt looks so good! And love your outfit! The colors go so great against your skin tone!
ReplyDeleteThanks Faith!
DeleteNever heard of that gel before but girl them edges were laid!!!! And you looked so cute in your shorts:)

Thanks KLP, I want to try that gel as well.
DeleteYou looked great!! I have aloe vera gel but don't use it.
ReplyDeleteWow, that gel worked wonders for your edges. I stay clear of buns around that time because it's so hard to get them sleek like that.
ReplyDeleteI love your outfit by the way, great style and color
You're such a cutie. You look awesome from head to toe. Work it~~~

How long did the hold last?
ReplyDeleteThanks ladies! These pictures were actually taken when I got back home 7 hours later. My hair looked the same the following morning until I did my usual wash day.
