He Went Down On One Knee & I Said…

I've have been racking my brain as to if I should do this post but I asked myself if anyone asked me how Kevin Proposed the story is going to be the exact same thing so why not share with my "E friends". I thought this post was fitting since we are in the love month.

On June 1, 2013 was one of the most amazing days of my life. It all started when I headed down to the salon to get my hair relaxed and I asked Kevin to assist in recording some of the relaxing process to share with you guys.  Well, after I left the salon Kevin asked to go Limegrove Bar for drinks to celebrate me making my first goal of Armpit Length (APL) but I was nervous I didn't reach that goal yet and blew him off by saying “why do we need to go celebrate, I don’t know that I met that goal (my hair was left wrapped from the salon) plus we are travelling next weekend, lets save the money and use it at a restaurant overseas”.  He still insisted but I shrugged it off and figured he had forgotten all about it.

Later that day my mom made homemade hamburgers and I invited him to come over for a burger and he came and saw my hair still wrapped and wondered why I haven’t taken it down to see the length. Kevin and my mom were cheering me on, so I unwrapped my hair and realized I was in fact grazing APL *jumping with excitement*

At 6:30pm I was on the phone with a girlfriend of mine and I heard a beep come through on the phone and it was Kevin saying “Babe be ready for 7:15pm” my response was “ to go where” and he went on saying remember I told you when we were in town lets go celebrate reaching your first hair goal.  I got off the phone and went to get ready and at 7:15pm I had just scrambled to finish my makeup which wasn't even flawless given the time constraint. Kevin came inside my house with a black slacks and navy blue button shirt and enclosing shoes. Now I told him you’re very dressed up and we are only going to a bar and he said "but its Limegrove". He didn't agree with the dress I was going to wear saying it wasn't dressy enough. I picked out another dress and I was able to be out of the house by 7:30pm.

Kevin went back into my house saying he forgot his stuff and I was waiting for about 10mins in the car till he came out with a bag and placed it in the trunk. Normally his stuff  goes in the back seat but I dismissed it. Driving down the road I realized Kevin was driving faster than normal and he brought up the story about when he was driving in Orlando last September and everyone including trucks were passing us because he didn't want to go over the speed limit, these people are driving like he was, I just chuckled.
Having drinks at Limegrove
We arrived at Limegrove Bar and sat adjacent from the bar. We ordered Mudslides and he was drinking faster than normal but even then I didn't get suspicious. I did notice a guy was looking down from upstairs at me the WHOLE night but failed to mention it to Kevin, which was creepy.  We talked and laughed and took loads of pics then Kevin asked for the bill. Now I

thought that was strange because when we go out for drinks we stay out for hours just talking and laughing but his excuse was that we wanted to go to church in the morning and it was in fact true so I bought that excuse again...

He guided me through the palm court at Limegrove and insisted on taking pictures.  My response was “Why Kevin, I'm not wearing anything new” but again I just took the pics and he guided me to sit on this particular bench .  He started professing his love and my eyes got teary but he started to talk about Tomes Edition saying how it is doing really well and people like what we are offering. That threw me completely off and the tears went back into my head and in my head I was saying “I thought this was going somewhere”. He continued saying he is ready to take our relationship to the next level and how much he loves me and our future is bright. Can you believe I still didn't have a clue with what was going on?
Kevin professing his love to me
Then he went down on his knee and open this box which had a LED light in it, shining on this beautiful ring.  In my head I was like “why is Kevin trying to embarrass me lol” because there was a couple in the palm court directly in front of us sitting on a bench as well (prob 20 feet away) and people from upstairs were looking down on us. Then he asked "Will you marry me Tomi".
My Ring
I’m so not a public person so my head fell forward and I was so overwhelmed but I said YES and he responded with “are you sure because you took very long to answer”.  I was so overjoyed that I pulled him up and we sealed this moment with a kiss.
Kevin Proposing
To my surprise I saw this guy come over to me and asked if I had an idea of what was going on, meanwhile there was another guy there with a camera videotaping. Back in the day I joked with Kevin saying it would be nice to have our engagement on video as a keep sake for us and our children, little did I know Kevin was paying special attention to what we talked about.  Then the guy said did you know there was a camera in the bushes facing the bench and one on both sides of the wall facing the bench, my mouth dropped open and I was in awwwww.  I couldn’t believe our special moment was captured on film and what made the surprise even sweeter was the fact that Kevin was wearing a mic so everything we said from the time we got to Limegrove was recorded.
Totally surprised and feeling extremely happy
I was alil nervous at this point because we talk a lot of nonsense at times and I believe these guys must have been saying this girl is a freak lol. We talked about me looking forward to sinking my teeth into ribs from Dallas bbq’s in New York and all sorts. The videographer team packed up and left and Kevin was just filling me in on how he went about planning and executing the entire thing without me knowing. The management of Limegrove presented us with a bottle of champagne, how sweet of them.

We left 20mins later and my mom called asking me to take down meat to cook for Sunday & I told her that I have something to tell her but when I see her the next day (she worked that night). Instead of swinging right to go home Kevin turned left and said "the night is still young" & I was intrigued. While driving he continued to fill me in on how he has been planning this proposal 6 months ago and the amount of planning and secrets he kept from me. He asked my parents for my hand in marriage, he is old school like that.

I saw the indicator in the car signaling to go left and it was Port St Charles and I asked Kevin what are we doing here and he said "remember you wanted to eat here".  I really needed to go to the bathroom so I was happy we stopped.  Port St. Charles is a Marina.
View from our room in Port St Charles
We parked and he started to guide me to what I thought was the bathroom but he led me to a room where I saw him pull out a key.  As he opened the door I saw Rose Petals on the bright white tiles and to my surprise the same guys  from Limegrove were there to capture my facial expression so thoughtful and sweet. I was totally blown away that I was fooled twice in the same day.
I was totally surprised to see the video-grapher at Port St Charles
A chef was hired to prepare our dinner and she explained everything she had cooked in our room, which was jumbo shrimp (starter), rice, smashed potatoes, coleslaw, steam vegetables, pork and barbeque chicken, served with baileys. I went to the bathroom and when I got out Kevin led me into our room that was covered with rose petals and all over the floor and on the bed spelled out “I love You”. I’m normally a teary person but I was so overwhelmed with joy that I was beaming from ear to ear.
Thank you to the staff at Port St Charles for this fantastic display in our room
Remember when I mentioned earlier that I was in the car for 10mins waiting for Kevin to come out my house, well he was secretly packing my clothes, shoes, hair stuff to spend 2 nights at the beautiful Port St. Charles.
A new beginning
We talked all night and enjoyed each other’s company. The following day we made breakfast together and lunch was dinner from last night.  We went on a tour around the resort on a boat since it’s surrounded by water.
Touring Port St Charles via boat
I took the opportunity to have a mini photo shoot because you guys know I love being infront of the camera.
Extremely happy about the events that unfolded that weekend
I’m so happy that God has blessed me with such an amazing, thoughtful and sweet guy. It’s not every day you find a partner with all the qualities you want in a future husband and Kevin has surpassed everything I dream't about. Our love story was built from a solid friendship which evolved into a special bond of love, hope & trust, better than what we had hoped for or expected and it continues to blossom into our future. We are presently in the process of planning our wedding, exciting times ahead. I pray that God continues to bless our relationship as we venture on this new journey.

Sorry about the long post and I hope you enjoyed learning alil bit more about me and us. I'm Engaged!

Be Inspired…

Beautiful pictures, he did so good!

Haha, when he said "are you sure? you took so long to answer" I couldn't help but laugh because Sean said something similar to me. Sean said, Are you going to answer because my knees are beginning to hurt?

I am currently interviewing couples around the world and getting their love stories for a series on my blog which will become the foundation of a book I am writing. I must say, however, this is the most elaborate love story that I have come across. Thanks so much for sharing with us.
