Wash Day Adjustments…

If you have been reading my recent wash day posts, you would have noticed I have been skipping getting in and out the shower twice. I have been experimenting as well as laziness kicked in as well. Take a look at what my regular wash day looks like:

Take a look at the slight changes I have made so far:

Method 1
[1]   Detangle my hairScalp massage for 5mins with Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
[2]   Deep condition on dry hair with a moisturizing or a mixture of both Moisture &
Protein conditioner for 30-45mins with heat

[3]   Apply a light protein treatment for 2mins and rinse ( if Moisturizing DC was used only)
[4]   Rinse and co-wash with Aussie Moist Conditioner
[5]   T-shirt dry for an hour &
[6]   Apply my leave in conditioners
[7]   Style as I desire

Method 2
[1]   Detangle my hair
[2]   Scalp massage for 5mins with Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
[3]   Deep condition on dry hair with an oil of my choice like Extra Virgin Coconut Oil or
Extra Virgin Olive Oil for 20-30mins with heat
[4]   Apply a moisturizing or a mixture of both moisture & protein conditioner for
30-45mins with heat on top of the oil
[5]   Apply a light protein treatment for 2mins and rinse (If a moisturizing DC was used only)
[6]   Rinse and co-wash with Aussie Moist Conditioner
[7]   T-shirt dry for an hour & Apply my leave in conditioners
[8]   Style as I desire

Method 3
[1]   Detangle my hair
[2]   Scalp massage for 5mins with Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
[3]   Deep condition on dry hair with a moisturizing or a mixture of both moisture &
protein Conditioner for 30-45mins with heat
[4]   Rinse and Shampoo with a moisturizing Shampoo
[5]   Apply a light protein treatment for 2mins and rinse (If a moisturizing DC was used only)
[6]   T-shirt dry for an hour & Apply my leave in conditioners
[7]   Style as I desire

Special Notes:
If I use a Deep conditioner that was a mixture of moisture and protein I don’t follow up with the light protein treatment.
I have been shampooing with a moisturizing shampoo every other week.
I have been clarifying every 4-6weeks

Once I have more time on my hands I’ll be back to my regular wash day process.

You may ask if my hair is losing any benefits but skipping one step in my wash day? I don’t think so because (1) my hair is still been cleaned, (2I have been using moisture & protein in my rotation of products which means my tresses are still balanced.

Have you made any changes to your Wash day or Regimen recently?

Be inspired…

  2. I am with you and courtnea on this. I have given up the hop in hop out ages ago too. the only time I do the full wash day is when am protein treating and clarifying my hair. I feel it takes even more than 3 hours for a hope in and out wash day!

  3. I have not been pre-pooing like I used to, I am using more conditioners that has both moisture and protein every wash so that I don't have to condition twice and I blow dry instead of air dry most times. I don't always wash weekly, more like 7-10 days now, my wash days take place in the wee hours of the morning so its either skip a few steps or not wash at all and you know that is not an option.

  4. @ Courtnea I'm with you on that one
@ Yvonne Yup for strong protein wash days I usually hop in and out the shower twice
@ Candice Wee hours sounds so tiring and stressful. Atleast you are finding time to fit it in
