Wash Day Coffee Rinse & Bantu Knot Out…

I’m currently 8 weeks post relaxer and to avoid battling with single strand knots (ssk), I’ve been experimenting with hairstyles to stretch out my new growth. I honestly wanted to skip preppoing and just jump into the shower once but I remembered my shedding is still not under control. Here is how my wash day went:
Take down from Bantu Knot-Out hair style

[1]   Scalp massage with Extra Virgin Coconut Oil . Prepooed with V05 Moisture milks
Conditioner for 20mins under my heat cap. I haven’t used this conditioner in forever but I
do remember it makes my hair really soft.
[2]   Shampooed with Crème of nature Moisturize & Shine Shampoo once.
Due to my shedding I needed to to a black tea rinse. I realized just before I started my
wash day that I was running low on black tea. I’ve heard you ladies use coffee and had
great results so I tried that.  I used about 2 small table spoons of coffee in my mixture. I
let it cool before applying it on my hair for 3mins.  Followed up with Aussie Moist
Conditioner,  over the coffee before rinsing out my hair.
[3]   Deep Conditioned with my Queen Helene mixture for 30mins under my heat cap.
[4]   Rinsed and wrapped my hair in a T-shirt for 30mins.
[5]   My leave in conditioner’s were Elasta QP Leave in H2, Aussie Moist Conditioner and
sealed with Extra Virgin Coconut Oil. I think I over did it with the Elasta QP as my hair
was drying on the hard side. That’s the protein in it.
[6]   When my hair was 95% dry I decided to try Bantu Knot-Out hair style again. The last time I
did this my hair ended up next length which I didn't like.

The following day I applied Jamaican Black Castor oil on my scalp. I pulled apart the curls with Extra Virgin Coconut Oil in my palms.
Bantu Knor-Out
I totally forgot how lovely your curls could turn out. Due to the time constraint and the fear of my hair not drying I didn't add any product to my hair after my leave in’s to start the style. Will I do this again, of course, it was easy peezy. Heat-less curls for the win.

I knew my curls wouldn't last more than two days and I wasn't about re-knotting my hair so I ended up with a textured faux bob.

  13. Nice recovery with the faux bob! After the curls fall I typically go straight for a bun. But that was very creative. Both styles look great.
