My Facial Regimen…

I confess, I never really had a facial regimen. All I used to do, was wash my face with Neutrogena fragrance free facial bar on a daily basis and use a facial scrub when the need arises. When taking off makeup all I used to do was, wash my face with the same Neutrogena facial bar and even though I will still see residue of the makeup, I would just use tissue to wipe off the excess makeup. Yes I know that’s extremely bad and please don’t practice it either. I have been blessed not to suffer from bad breakouts, so I guess I took my skin care for granted. Fast forward to the end of December 2014 when my face started to break out and I started to panic. But at least I knew the cause of the break out. I had been using my makeup brushes for more than 3 times without washing and this broke me out. Please wash your makeup brushes as frequently as you can. I now wash them after using them twice.
The products I use on my face

My Daily Regimen:
Wash my face daily with Neutrogena Facial bar and cream my face with Jergens only on mornings before I head out to work to add back some moisture. At night i wash my face with Neutrogena facial bar and go to sleep. Recently I have been applying Extra Virgin Olive Oil on the black spots on my face, which is suppose to help remove the black marks.

My Weekly Regimen:
  • I start with a clean face first. So I wash my face with Neutrogena facial bar .
  • Apply Extra Virgin Olive Oil followed by Honey all over my face and let it sit for 15mins. I either steam my face for 3 minutes or place a warm wash cloth over my face till it cools.
  • Rinse and apply QueenHelene Mint scrub all over my face and let it sit for 2 mins before rinsing. Sometimes I add some brown sugar with the scrub for added gritty effect.
  • Once I rinse, my face feel so smooth and soft.

Front view of my skin flaws
The pic above is an older picture but i'm just showing you how my skin is from the front with all my flaws and without makeup. I have dark circles under my eyes, and two toned in other areas but I love my skin and is extremely comfortable in it.
This pic was taken this week - Side view of my skin flaws
The right side of my face is much worst than the left. My moles seem to be getting out of control on the left side of my face.  I must say the Extra Virgin Olive oil is working, to remove the black spots in my face but i'm not as consistent as I should be.

Tell me about your facial regimen?

Be inspired...

  1. I don't like using oil on my hair because I have oily skin, but you are the second person I hear talking about how good EVOO is for the skin. I use honey with lime juice on my face for about 20 minutes. Honey removes impurities and softens the skin. The acid in the lime juice penetrates the skin and kills bacteria and removes excess oil. I am glade your skin is getting better.

  3. I started using the oil cleanse method (basically where you use oil to clean your face) about a year ago and my skin has completely changed. Less breakouts, dark spots, smaller pores, etc etc. I wish that I would have know this when I was younger! LOL.

    Thanks for sharing your regimen!

  4. Girl, you dont have any flaws, no matter how close you fotograp your skin. Beautiful skin.

To get rid of darker areas you can use ACV. Glycolic acid is also very efficient but with your dark skin it is better to do it in the autumn as you need to stay our of the sun for a few weeks.

  5. Your skin is nice and radiant. You may want to try to incorporate some serums into your skincare to help the discoloration, something with Vitamin C would be perfect

  6. Your face looks great! I wish my face was as kind to me. I have hormonal acne that's aggravated by stress. Stress is all around me so it's very hard to escape breakouts. It's so exhausting.

  7. I use EVOO to cleanse my skin as well. When am feeling fancy I'll do and EVOO/honey mask or a sour cream mask and it has my skin looking and feeling soft like a babies bum.

  8. Wow, I really liked your blog and the information about your facial regimen. I think that as women get older we all face a significant amount of societal pressure to look a certain way, sometimes its truly not easy. Have you been to NiritReani.com? I have found it to be a useful resource.
