Tropic Isle Living’s Jamaican Black Castor Oil is ancient healing oil that has been used for thousands of years as a folk remedy to grow and maintain hair, for skin ailments, aches and pains, as a laxative and as a hair conditioner.
Suggested Use:
- Massage into scalp like a grease for moisturizing purposes.
- For dry, permed and colored hair add 3 tablespoons to a Deep Conditioner to add and seal in moisture.
- Hot Oil treatment: Warm 3 tablespoons of the castor oil and massage into hair then put on heating cap for half hour OR massage castor oil into hair, put on heating cap and sit under dryer for 10 mins.
Ingredients:
Pure Jamaican Black Castor Oil
How I Used This Product:
- Applied raw on my scalp twice a week [Wash days and midweek]
- Mixed 1 tablespoon with my Deep Conditioner [Queen Helene Cholesterol]
::The Assessment::
- This oil is very thick not runny at all and a little can go a long way. This 8 oz bottle lasted 6-7 months.
- It smells like burnt bacon but my bf says it smells like "crushed up Christmas worms" The smell doesn’t linger for more than an hour compared to the B’s Organic brand that I smell ALL day long. Even my friends at work knew when I oiled my scalp, yes it was that strong, and that’s why I prefer the Tropic Isle brand.
- My new growth is extremely happy when I use this, especially deep into my relaxer stretch.
- My new growth is so soft and manageable.
- JBCO is awesome for thickening hair and boosting hair growth. If you read my patch blog post (Click Here), you will understand what I mean.
- My scalp tends to itch 2 days after I apply it, but I believe it’s due to the hair follicles being stimulated.
I will definitely recommend this product but consistency is the key to reaping great benefits. Jamaican Black Castor Oil is the business.

Have you tried Jamaican Black Castor Oil and more specifically this brand?
I love me some JBCO. I mostly apply it to my scalp or my hairline. I haven't really tried mixing into my conditioner. That will be next on my list. Nice review!
ReplyDeleteThanks Andrea, JBCO is the business lol
DeleteI LOVE JBCO. It always makes my hair feel super soft and adding it to conditioners makes my DC sessions even better. I also like to prepoo with it and like you said, it makes my NG so super soft. Great post!
ReplyDeleteThanks Age! This is one product I can't live without.
DeleteI have this exact brand of JBCO and it's so viscous that I can't get beyond that on most days. I typically end up applying it to my hair line randomly and adding to my hot oil mixes. I don't think I'm consistent enough with it to (1) see actual results or (2) continue repurchasing it after I run out this bottle, but I've heard nothing but good things about this product. I'm glad you like it. Great review, Tomi!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kim!I think consistency is key to seeing results with this product.
ReplyDeleteI also have the exact brand but haven't been consistent with usage.
