Wash Day @ 16 Weeks Post…

I looked at my current stat on the left hand side of the screen and realized I was due for a relaxer on the 4 Jan 2014, which would have been the norm for me to relax at 16weeks post but I didn't do a protein treatment last weekend and truthfully my hair has been cooperating so I’m not in a hurry to relax.  I want to be a DIY girl for my relaxer so I’m trying to build up myself for the task. This is how this wash day went:

[1]   Applied warm Extra Virgin Coconut Oil on my scalp and massaged my scalp for 3 mins.
[2]   Prepooed Aussie Moist Conditioner mixed with Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Coconut oil
with a few drops of peppermint on the length of my hair for 15mins under my heat cap.

[3]   Shampooed with diluted CON Moisture & Shine Shampoo with a few drops of
       peppermint oil.
[4]   Applied Aphogee Keratin 2 min Reconstructor for 2mins and rinsed.
[5]   Deep Conditioned with L'Oreal Total Repair Damage Erasing Balm for 40mins under
my heat cap.  This is the second time that I’m using this DC and it actually moisturized my
hair which was surprising because the DC didn't sink into my strands.
       Review coming soon.
[6]   Wrapped my hair in a t-shirt for 2hrs to absorb the excess water.
[7]   Before adding my leave-in’s I sprayed my roots generously with Mane 'nTail Detangler and
detangled first. Then applied Aphogee Keratin & Green Tea Restructurizer , Aussie Moist
Conditioner, Herbal Essences Split-End Protector (on my ends) and Extra Virgin
Coconut Oil to my hair and detangled carefully. I must say using this detangler has saved
me so much time and energy on my wash days. I doubt I could have survived so long into
       my stretch without this product.

I did notice a few single strand knots but luckily I didn't have too much breakage unraveling
them.

Let my hair air dry for 2 hours. The following morning I applied Jamaican Black Castor Oil on my scalp and Moisturized with Elasta QP Olive Oil & Mango butter and sealed with Hot Six Oil.

This has been my first wash day for 2014 and it was easy breezy.

How was your last wash day?

  1. My wash day was blah. Post partum shedding makes me not want to touch my hair at all. You've got a great sheen to yours!

  6. I just started using that DC as well and I wasn't sure how I would like it at first. The last time I used it my hair was so smooth and moisturized for days!

  9. I love your healthy (Yes, hair can be relaxed and healthy) hair journey. I use to try washing my own hair back in the day when I had long hair...girl it was WORK!!!! I have very thick and full head of hair so it is work. But now since I'm short....I can relax and perm with ease on my own.

  10. Hi! Thank you for stopping by the blog just wanted to return the love! I haven't relaxed my hair since 2006 but I do a lot of the same steps and use many of the same products. I am trying to reach bra strap length myself. When I was in basic training in the army I permed my hair myself. it wasn't that bad.
