Relaxer Results Hair Ramble…

December was an extremely busy month for me so my usual relaxer results routine didn’t go to plan. I usually film, that did not happen. I usually trim, that did not happen till 2 weeks later, of which i barely took off a 1/4 inch.. I usually take loads of pic, that did not happen. What happened you may ask? Time was just against me for the entire month. The only thing that went to plan was that I followed my usually prep on relaxer day as seen here
My hair air-drying after being relaxed

What really happened to my hair in December? I flat ironed my hair 3 times *screams and hides under my bed*. Yes I should know better and I honestly prayed not to have heat damage and luckily I don’t *whew*.  I first flat ironed my hair on the day of my relaxer.  The plan was to pamper my hair a couple days before the wedding but I skipped that and instead, I sprayed my hair with water, added some leave in conditioner which reverted my hair. I blew dry my hair and flat ironed my hair for the second time without washing. Please don’t judge me, time was of the essence. I wanted loose curls on my ends but didn't want to sleep in flexi-rods to have an uncomfortable night rest before my wedding day. Instead , I just wrapped my hair.
Flat Ironed Hair taken 2 weeks later
My dilemma came when my curling iron wasn't getting hot enough to just curl my ends. I have never used a flat iron to curl my hair and my bridesmaids attempted to, but it didn't quite come off as they thought. While my girls were assisting in curling my hair all I was thinking was “Lord please don’t let me have heat damage”. The girls laughed because they couldn't believe that was all I was thinking about instead of getting real curls. Being on a healthy hair journey does that to you.  In the end I barely had curls but I made it work for me. What my hair looked like after 4 weeks of being flat ironed. My hair needs a trim but I’m waiting till my next relaxer to get my hairdresser to give me a professional trim.
Length Check : December 2014
As you can see i made it to Bra Strap Length but my ends aren't anything to shout about. Those thin ends need to go but that wouldn't happen before my next relaxer touch up. I'm currently 6 weeks post relaxer and plan to stretch for 16weeks.

What have you done unconventional recently to your hair?

Be inspired...

    1. Thanks Cheyenne. I usually do a strong protein treatment every 6-8weeks. I do light protein treatments weekly / bi-weekly depending on how my hair feels on wash day.

  12. Your hair has grow so much and it's very pretty. Congrats. You may not be pleased with your ends but yours are perfection compared to mine. I'm totally over the length thing. I just want healthy ends. Aargh. This journey can be challenging but hey, at least we have the skills to re-grow.
