I relaxed my hair myself
at 15 1/2 weeks post relaxer with ORS Relaxer in Normal strength and I’m
getting better at it every time I do it. My routine hasn't changed from the last
time I relaxed my hair seen here.
Relaxer Results: March 2015 |
I started at the top right hand corner and worked myself around my entire head in 20 mins. I spent 15mins for application and 5mins smoothing out the relaxer with my fingers. I didn't want my hair bone straight so I didn't use a comb to smoothen out the hair.
I hopped into the shower
and rinsed my hair thoroughly.
Applied Aphogee 2 min Reconstructor for 2 mins and rinsed to add back some strength.
Shampooed with Motions Neutralizing Shampoo 3 times and rinsed.
Freshly Relaxed Hair - March 2015 |
Deep conditioned with ORS Replenishing Pak for 35mins with
heat. I love how balanced this conditioner is. Adds some strength as well as
moisture.
I dyed my hair again. I
bought the Kiss Express Color in the color Crimson. I was hoping it would have been
brighter than Truly Red that I had last time.
I sat under my heat cap for 25mins with the dye and rinsed. I followed
up with V05 Moisture Milks Conditioner to add back some moisture to my hair,
remove the excess dye and mask some of the smell.
Rinsed and wrapped my hair
in a T-shirt for 40mins.
Air Drying Results |
My leave-in conditioners
were Elasta Design Thermal Styling Spray and alittle Aussie Moist Conditioner and sealed with Extra
Virgin Coconut Oil. I didn't want my hair weighed down since I was planning to
flat iron it later. That actually turned into a week later *hangs face in
shame* Once my hair was 90% dry I
decided to blow dry my roots that were still damp on cool temperature.
Air dried hair |
A week later I flat ironed my hair the following Saturday. I sprayed my
hair with Tresemme Heat Tamer sprayed along with Organix Coconut Milk Anti Breakage Serum. I did
one pass on majority of my hair and two passes on my crown since that’s the
thickest part of my hair. I used a
slightly higher heat which got my hair bone straight on majority of the areas.
Relaxer Results: Length Check |
As I mention in my relaxer
prep post my ends are in need of a good professional trim. That post will be up
soon. Overall I’m happy with my
results. Even though it doesn't look like I retained much length, my hair played
“catch up” in the back section and for that I’m grateful.
