Product Review: Queen Helene Cholesterol Hair Conditioning Cream...

I have been using this product since the beginning of my Healthy Hair Journey back in June 2012 – my hairdresser has also been using this product on my hair since 2007. This product has been a staple in my regimen and I always make sure I have a backup tub so I don’t run out.

::The Assessment::

[1]      I love the thick consistency of the product and a little goes along way (although I’m
heavy handed when applying product lol)
[2]      I love that it’s in a jar and not bottle, easy access for me to apply it
[3]      I love the slip it gives when applying the product and how soft & moisturize my hair is
          when I rinse it out
[4]      The amount of product you get for the price is a sweet deal
[5]      The smell isn’t great but it does not bother me
[6]      Generally I don’t experience excessive breakage
[7]      Yes it has mineral oil but I haven’t seen any adverse effects on my hair

When I used the Queen Helene Cholesterol raw by itself it was blah on my hair so I decided to add a few oils of Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, Jamaican Black Castor Oil, Jojoba Oil and a couple drops of Peppermint Oil to spice it up abit.  The oils did the trick but it wasn’t as moisturizing as I would have liked.  After my relaxer in February 2013, I decided to add a couple drops of Roux Correction Conditioner to it, to boost the effectiveness and boom this conditioner is pretty awesome lol.

I would prefer a deep conditioner that can do the trick without so many additions  I will definitely recommend this product but suggest adding oils to it and for the price you really can’t beat it.

Has anyone tried this product before and what are your thoughts?

Be inspired…

  1. I tried this one early in my HHJ because I liked the price. My hair didn't care for it, but maybe I should have added oils to it. I may have to revisit this one. Great review!

  2. I think that I used this once or twice pre-HHJ. Once I started my HHJ, the mineral oil scared me away. However, I love your Roux PC trick. Every couple of wash days, I like to add a few drops to whatever conditioner that I'm using. Who know that stuff would be so awesome?

  3. Where do you get the Roux Correction Conditioner in Barbados? I use the Hollywood Beauty Cholesterol Deep Conditioner and I love it. Maybe you can try that one.

    1. I bought it from Caribbean Queen in Bridgetown but I have seen it at other beauty supply stores like Diamond Girl or #1 Beauty Supply. I have heard alot of mixed reviews on that one but I can certainly give it a try, thanks.

  4. Up to my late teens queen helene cholesterol was what my mother and I used on our hair. I was still natural. I think we stopped using it because it was not available ( as things then to appear and disappear on the Bajan market). A while back I was trying to remember what we use to use. Thanks for bringing it back to my attention.
